Miami Teen Counseling, founded by Miguel Brown, is committed to helping families and teens live stronger and happier lives. We are here to help you sort through all types of transitions from painful, everyday struggles to traumatic, life-changing events; thus, allowing you to get through each situation using respect and communication as opposed to aggression and hurt. More than a “quick fix,” we are here to help teens and their families gain the skills needed to maintain healthy boundaries, improve stress tolerance, and enhance decision-making skills. Miami Teen Counseling offers a safe space for teens to rediscover family balance and to develop the skills needed to grow into confident and healthy adults.

I have been part of the South Florida community for over 19 years. I received a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Miami and have been working with both English and Spanish speaking teenagers and their families for 10 years. I have always had a gift for connecting with teenagers and as a local South Floridian I can relate to them. I provide a sanctuary for teenagers and families who are ready to start making positive changes in their lives.
I believe that teenagers who are discovering who their and what they want to become can find counseling to be an extremely enriching personal experience. I am here to help you make the most out of that learning experience.

Payment and Insurance Policy
FEES
WEEK DAYS (Mon-Fri): The fee for the initial consultation is a flat fee of $185. The fee for each additional session is also $185. I see patients a minimum of once a week. If the family is not able to pay the full fee, then I may be able to lower it depending on my availability and the family’s financial circumstances. In these specific cases, I may use a sliding fee scale to determine the unique fee. If you are hoping to receive a reduced fee, then it is helpful to bring proof of income to the initial consultation.
WEEKEND DAYS (Sat-Sun): The fee for weekend sessions is $250 per session. Weekend sessions must be paid at least 48 hours in advance. Refunds are NOT available for weekend appointments. Weekend appointments may not be canceled or rescheduled. Available times Saturday or Sunday are currently limited to 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30.
I do not work directly with any insurance companies but I am able to provide receipts for out-of-network benefit reimbursements. Please call your insurance company to find out if they are able to provide you with this service. However, using health insurance for mental health services may have particular drawbacks that you should be aware of before starting. Please tell me if you are interested in using health insurance so I can explain these drawbacks and you can make an informed decision.
POLICIES
Please provide 24 hours’ notice before cancelling an appointment. Failure to do so will result in you being charged for the full session. If you do not show up for a scheduled appointment, then you will be charged the full fee of the session. If an appointment is canceled with less than 24 hours notice but a make-up session is able to be scheduled for the same week, then no fee will be charged for the missed session. I accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
